Report Editor Debt Tracker is equipped with a built-in report engine capable of printing any type of document required. A number of standard documents in the form of letters and forms are included with the application; however, it is an essential requirement for the user to be able to update or create their own documents, as legal requirements vary with each location. To that end, Debt Tracker includes a full featured, band-type report editor. Band-type report editors are relatively simple to learn and are the type used in most commercial report applications, such as Crystal Reports.
With the Report Editor, users may edit the letters and forms included with Debt Tracker or create new ones, either by starting with an existing document or by creating one from scratch. Forms can be multi-page. All of the data stored in a table can be utilized in the printed documents. A number of calculated* fields are available in addition to those storing actual data. The calculated fields provide an easy means of accessing complex data such as formatted complete names and addresses of debtors and creditors.
The Report Editor utilizes a full graphical, component based interface that enables the user to visually design the layout of the letter, form, or report in a manner that will print the way it looks on the screen.
The reports themselves are physically stored as text in the fields of several tables. However, they are not editable except through the report editor interface.
Users are not limited to the built-in report engine provided with Debt Tracker. Any report engine that can connect to the industry standard Debt Tracker data tables may be used. However, other tools will not be able to take advantage of the calculated field capability.
